At the start of the decade, in the first quarter of 2010 house sales started low with 4426, this may be due to the economic downturn facing the country at the time.
The highest year for house sales was 2015 with a total of 7319, which was closely followed by 2014 with a total of 6755.
At the start of the decade in 2010, the lower end of the property market sold for less than £100,000, most of the houses sold in that bracket with a total of 1469. At the end of the decade, this margin of the property market remained to be the highest bracket of which had the most houses sold with a total of 18120.
The house price bracket that came in second was between £100,000 and £120,000 with a total of 9118 houses being sold in 2019. This bracket had one of the largest increases in the number of houses being sold. At the start of the decade only 3650 houses sold, which may have been due to the recession, causing house market uncertainty.
On the more expensive houses sales in Wakefield, only 1 house sold for £1 million in 2010. At the end of the decade houses that sold for 1M again was only 1. The total number of houses that sold for 1M+ was 11, showing that the area does not attract as many wealthier households.

In terms of the volume of house sales in a postcode district, the WF2 postcode district which represents Batley, Castleford, Dewsbury was overall the area with the highest number of house sales which was 5812 over the decade between 2010 and 2019.
Wakefield has a smaller amount of postcode districts with a grand total of 17.
Other postcode areas within Wakefield that followed closely behind was WF3, which covers areas that include Heckmondwike, Knottingley, Liversedge, with 5345 houses sold over the decade.
